Hello out there to all of you bloggers (and blog readers). As I am sure you already know, today is February the 14th. So I would like to say…
I won’t take much of your time since I really don’t have anything very significant to share, but I just wanted to drop a few lines regarding this “special” (or not-so-special) day. I am sure you have heard the whines and complaints from the majority of your friends about how they are “forever alone” on this day of love. I think complaining about how alone you are has become almost as cliche as the sappy holiday itself.
Although it may seem kind of sad to be “alone” on the holiday revolved around love, there is nothing wrong with it. In fact, I believe that Valentine’s Day should not be solely celebrated as a romantic holiday, but instead should be a reminder to love on everybody who is special in our lives. Romantic love is not the only kind of love or even the most powerful. We have endless opportunities to show love to our friends, our families, and even complete strangers. Love is a very powerful expression, regardless of what form it takes.
Not only that, but we should also remember that Valentine’s Day should not be the only day that we show other people that we love them. Every day can be an opportunity to show some loving.
So here’s a thought: instead of spending what is left of this loving holiday complaining about your lack of a significant other, why not spend it showing those you do have in your life some love. Show your appreciation with some cookies, a nice card, or even some simple kind words. Encourage one another.
And just one last thought, if it so happens that you never find a significant other, just do what any rational woman would do…
Become a crazy cat lady.
(This is MY special Valentine this year!)
Enjoy the moments you have left on this day. And please, please, please remember that every day is a day to love. Valentine’s blessings,
