Weekly Round-Up: Past, Present, and Future

It’s been a while since I have posted a Weekly Round-Up. I can’t deny that I have been a pretty bad blogger these past few months. School, friends, church, work…life has caught up with me and sadly my blogging hasn’t been a part of it. But you can bet that I’ve been hoarding instagram photos for months on end so I have finally decided to share some.

These past few months have been chaotic. Crazy actually. But they’ve also been incredible! I am so blessed with some of the world’s most fabulous people in my life who help me get through each day with a smile on my face. These photos are just a tiny peak into the large and small moments that have kept me sane in the past little while.

ONE: A photo taken on my iPhone of an iPhone taking a picture of an iPone taking a picture of a cowboy and some pretty ladies. Still with me? TWO: My kitty was pretty sick for a few weeks but she is starting to look and feel much better! THREE: I officially started a Paper Crane Project. I hope to talk about it in more detail at a later point. FOUR: I baked peanut butter lattice brownies for the first time. And even more exciting–I got to share them with my friends! FIVE: On our walk, my friend pointed out this pattern left on the sidewalk from the decaying leaves. We took a moment to mourn autumn. SIX: I finished knitting my first scarf of the season! I used this pattern that I posted on here last winter. SEVEN: I found a handful of old half-finished drawings in my desk. So many flowers… EIGHT: I recently came across this passage again and was reminded of how encouraging God’s promises are. NINE: I am knee-deep in a series of receipt prints. I cannot wait to just be finished already! TEN: One of my best friends is getting married so I got to accompany her to the wedding dress store to choose her dress. I got to practice my MOH duties by helping her get into the dresses. And yes, she said yes to a dress!

The seasons are changing (in more way that one) and I’m excited for what’s up next. Who’s excited to ditch their light jackets and scarecrow decorations for hot cocoa, ice skates, and nights spent laughing around the fireplace?

Happy November 15th, friends!

Many Reasons To Give Thanks

This past weekend, people across Canada celebrated Thanksgiving with the ones that they love. Most Thanksgiving celebrations involve turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pumpkin pie (…lots of pumpkin pie), but I didn’t get to indulge in this tasty feast this year. My family and I packed our bags and hit the road enroute to our nation’s capital, Ottawa, instead. Even though we didn’t celebrate Thanksgiving the traditional way, I still have many reasons to give thanks. Freedom. Beauty around me. Family. Laughs. Good health. Jesus. The list goes on and on. So in honour of giving thanks, I wanted to share some photos from our weekend road trip that represent some of the reasons why I am truly thankful.

I have such a beautiful and fun family. I am so thankful for the times we spend together and the adventures we find ourselves in. Life truly is beautiful and there is always a way to find a smile each and every day.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving, friends (Canadian or not!)

Weekday Round-Up: Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?

Have you missed me? I’ve missed you. I’ve missed this. I’ve missed crafting, photographing, blogging, and posting. But as I mentioned earlier, my time has been invested in settling into my new virtual kitchen. And boy oh boy, is she ever cookin’! I have been baking up a storm these past few weeks. I don’t know if it is because I know that school is starting again soon so I want to get all of my “bucketlist” baking items checked off, or if it is simply because I am feeling flavourfully inspired. Regardless, my Kitchen Aid has been mixing, my oven has been baking, and I have certainly been eating!

I usually do Weekend Round-Ups, but this is a special occasion. I wanted to share a few (okay, so there are a lot of them) photos that give you a better idea of where the heck I’ve been these past few weeks.

From custom sugar cookies to experimental cupcake flavours, peanut butter brownie cups and classic chocolate chip cookies, the baking has failed to cease. I have two words for you: sugar coma. And that, my friends, is where Carmen Sandiego (or in this case, Amber Wideman) has been.

Today, I have aspirations to finally get my sewing machine set up! When that happens, the sewing will resume along with the crafting, knitting, card-making, and re-fashioning. I hope you are all appreciating these last few bursts of summer. Many blessings!

Weekend Round-Up: Snap Back To Reality

I’m back! I can honestly say that I was happy to be able to share a few photos here and there while I was at camp. I was looking forward to my short break from blogging (all that brainstorming, photographing, editing, and writing) but as soon as I didn’t do it, I missed it. The break did give me some creative inspiration, though, so I’m looking forward to delving into some of those projects in the up-coming weeks. You know what they say: you can take the girl out of the kitchen and away from the sewing machine, but you can’t take the kitchen and sewing machine out of the girl… Uh..or something like that.

Anyways. I’ve been home for just over a week now and so I decided that it was about due time for me to share some instagrams. Below are some of the exciting (or not so exciting) moments that snapped me back into the reality of my every day life and out of camp mode. Goodbye constantly dirty feet, acceptably messy hair, and days off spent diving into the warm lake. Hello good hygiene, Kitchen Aid mixer, and matching clothing.

It’s good to be back.

Weekend Round-Up: First Week of Camp is Done!

The sun is shining, the kids are smiling, and the birds are singing up north because the first week of camp was a huge success! The week was absolutely beautiful. I was lucky enough to snap a few photos here and there and am extremely excited to share them with you. I’ve had some incredible moments this past week and experienced joy in many ways. These are just a fraction of the photos that represent the past week…

It has been a wonderful week. I’m still feeling eager to test out some new recipes and try out my new “brother” (horray for sewing machines!) but I have to wait until I get home. Until then, I’ll keep myself busy with frequent instagram posts. Here’s to two more wonderful weeks at camp before I head back home. I hope you are enjoying your summer!
