Hey guys! I have some exciting news. You may not find it very exciting, but I sure do. About a week ago, I entered a giveaway on Truth and Cake blog. And as I’m sure you have already gathered, I was chosen (along with two other lovely ladies) as a…
I can honestly say that Truth and Cake is one of my favourite blogs to read. I never hesitate to read the latest post. The author, Rian, is extremely witty and incredibly talented with her words. She writes on a variety of topics–all of which are incredibly inspiring and thought-provoking. Some of my favourite posts that she has written include Steal Like an Artist, Think Small, and her most recent post titled No Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto: Fighting the Good Fight Against Information Overload. If you have a moment, you should read at least one (if not all) of these pieces.
Today I received my prize for winning the giveaway. In order to enter, all you had to do was leave a comment containing one interesting and/or funny truth about yourself. Although I was slightly embarrassed, I shared about my life-long fear of ladybugs (maybe I’ll go into that at another time…too much to say, so little time). As a result, I was chosen along with a couple other ladies. I won a wonderful and fun little package of goodies, which included…
I am beyond excited to read the two books (Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon and The Creative Habit by Twyla Tharp) as I’m sure they will both be inspiring for my creative practices. The package also came with a cute little pig key chain, a cool notebook, a stripey pencil, and a cupcake lip balm (honestly, who can go wrong with cupcake lip balm!?). Oh, and did I mention it was all cushioned in the package by lots of gold tinsel?
So, on behalf of myself (and all of the ladybugs that have been squished on my behalf), I would just like to say a ginormous THANK YOU to Rian from Truth and Cake for both organizing the giveaway and choosing me as a winner. It made my week to receive a lovely package in the mail! All the best on your future writing. I will definitely be following it (as I am sure many others will be as well).
I hope that I will one day be able to run a giveaway as well. Not just because it’s fun to get lots of cool stuff (which it is!), but because I love connecting with different people who have different ideas. During this process, I got to know Rian a little bit through a couple of emails that we passed back and forth. It was so wonderful to connect with someone who literally lives on the opposite side of the country–one whom I most likely would never have had the opportunity to connect with otherwise. That is one thing that is so awesome about blogging. We have more opportunities to establish community and show each other love and care. That is priceless.
So thanks for sharing in my excitement with me. Like I suggested before, you should check out Truth and Cake. You won’t regret it…I promise. I hope you are all having a wonderful week that is full of joy and blessings.
